    • James N. Carnes Sr., 72, of Mohawk Road, Cranesville, died Thursday, May 20, 1993, at Hamot Medical Center.
      He was born in Linesville on July 26,1920, a son of the late Arthilla and Nina Moorehouse Carnes.
      Mr. Carnes served as a corporal in the US Army during World War II and was a member of the Albion VFW.
      He had been employed by Perry Plastics as an inspector until his retirement.
      He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellamae Young Carnes, in 1989; by four brothers, Edward, John, Harry and Robert; three sisters, Desselee, Nola and Lilly; a half-brother, Leon Craig; and five grandchildren.
      Survivors include four sons, James Carnes Jr. of Crossingville, Walter and Jody Carnes, both of Erie, and Michael Carnes of Cranesville; eight daughters, Mrs. Richard (Dorma) Scott of Erie, Mrs. Murray (Linda) Terrill of Edinboro, Mrs. Dan (Dorothy) Hillard and Mrs. Jack (Melodie) Wilson Sr., both of Albion, Mrs. Ken (Opal) Burger of Garland, Texas, Mr. Robert (Rosalie) Biebel of Fairview, Loretta Carnes of Erie an Mrs. Richard (Rebecca) Layton Jr. of Edinboro; three sisters, Alice Costillo of Bowling Green, Ky., Mary Jane Stevens of Florida and Nina Lee Thunderbuck of Georgia; 50 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
      Friends may call at the Harry D. Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie, Edinboro on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held there Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Brian Kelley officiating.
      Burial will be at McLane Cemetery.
      Memorials may be made to the Cranesville Volunteer Fire Department.
