  	from the June 18, 2005 issue of the Meadville Tribune: CARROLL U. BLOOD JR. LINESVILLE - Carroll U. Blood, Jr., 85, of Linesville, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died Friday, June 17, 2005, at Meadville Medical Center, with his wife and their six children at his bedside. He was born March 2, 1920, in Conneaut, Ohio, the son of Carroll U. and Fanny C. Whitford Blood. He married Leola M. Penfield May 22, 1943, in Linesville; she survives. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Center Road, Linesville. He was a World War II veteran of the US Army, serving from 1942 to 1946. He was a self-employed dairy farmer in Conneaut Township from 1946 to 1976, enjoying the help of his wife and children. He was also a township supervisor for several years. Carroll was director in the Farm Credit Bureau and Production Credit Association from 1960 to 1977. He was a member of Erie Crawford State Police Company 38 for 51 years; a member of Linesville Volunteer Fire Department for 52 years; a member of Linesville American Legion Post 462 for 53 years; a member of Sons of American Legion; and a member of Crawford County Fire Police. From 1993 to 2000 he was sergeant at arms at the state House of Representatives in Harrisburg. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and, most of all, time spent with his family. Carroll will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. In addition to Leola M. Blood, his loving wife of 62 yeas, he is survived by six children, David L. Blood and his wife, Arlene, of Mentor, Ohio, Linda L. Guerrieri and her husband, Lou, of Herminie, Tommy C. Blood and his wife, Karin, of Worland, Wyo., Patty K. Whitcomb and her husband, David, of Taylors, S.C., James A. Blood and his wife, Sandra, of Linesville, and Randal E. Blood and his wife, Deborah, of Mentor, Ohio; and three sisters, Alice Huston and her husband, Roy, of Albion, Ida Williams and her husband, Geddas, of Keystone Heights, Fla., and Velma Brown and her husband, Wilbur, of Conneautville. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Harold W. Coleman Jr. Funeral Home, 6028 US Highway 6, Linesville, with a Crawford Erie State Police memorial service at 7 p.m. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Dr. David Whitcomb, son-in-law, of Community Baptist Church, Greer, S.C., officiating. Burial will be in Linesville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Linesville Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 55, or Calvary Baptist Church, 5564 W. Center Road, both of Linesville, Pa. 16424.
