Name |
William Garold Dean |
Born |
16 May 1906 |
Conneaut Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, USA |
- Note that William's Pennsylvania birth certificate lists his date of birth as May 15th at 4 a.m.; however, all other records (including his military records) show his date of birth as May 16th. Was he really born on the 15th? Or was he born early morning on the 16th and the doctor wrote down the date incorrectly?

- from a scrapbook at the Linesville Historical Society:
A very pretty wedding took place Tuesday evening at 8:30 o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alex L. Collins, Espyville Station, when Eleanore Nelan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. M. Hayes, became the bride of William Garold Dean, of Ashtabula, O. The ring ceremony was used, with Dr. JW Harsha officiating.
Before the ceremony Arden Bennett sang "My Heart Is a Heaven." The Mendelssohn Wedding March was played by Miss Clarinda Hayes, sister of the bride, and Graynard Quick.
The bride wore white satin with tulle veil and carried a bouquet of bride's roses. Miss Lydia White, of Canton, Ohio, was the bride's maid and carried a bouquet of pink roses and sweet peas. She was attired in eggshell lace chiffon. Simon Woodard, of Andover, Ohio, acted as best man.
Immediately after the ceremony a saxophone solo was rendered by Graynord Quick, accompanied by Miss Hayes. After congratulations, a small orchestra furnished music.
Mrs. Dean is a teacher, having taught in the vicinity for the past three years. Mr. Dean holds a position with the Farmer's National Bank, of Ashtabula.
