FORMER LINESVILLE RESIDENT KILLED
A former Linesville resident, Paul Edward Chason, 35, RD 1, Box 321, Elgin, S.C., was shot and killed about 5:25 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 1975, at his home.
Chason's widow, Anna, 32, was arrested at the home and charged with murder, according to Richland County sheriff's deputies.
Chason was an E-6 (sergeant) stationed at Ft. Jackson Army base which is about 10 miles from his home at Elgin. He had been stationed in South Carolina for two years. He had been in the Army 14 years.
Chason was born in Dicksonburg Dec. 31, 1939, a son of Paul and Josephine Penfield Chason. He was affiliated with St. Philip's Roman Catholic Church, Linesville.
In addition to his widow, survivors include a daughter, Paula and a stepdaughter, Tamara, at home; his mother, Mrs. John (Josephine) Repko, and stepfather, Mr. Repko, and two half sisters, Mrs. Larry (Faye) McGuire, all of Linesville; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Neva Penfield, Linesville; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Marie Chason, Conneautville; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. His father and a sister, Dixie Jo, preceded him in death.
Funeral Mass was held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Phillip's RC Church, Linesville, with the Rev. Fr. Bernard Webber, pastor, officiating. interment was at Linesville Cemetery.
Funeral services were under the direction of Thurman M. Houghton Funeral Home.
