Obituary
William Elliott Brown was the son of William G. and Mariah Brown, of Sheakleyville. He had two brothers, L.D., of Greenville, who died about a year ago, and Burton, a younger brother, who died in the army. Mr. Brown married Margaret Sheakley, daughter of George Sheakley, after whom the the (sic) town was named. He served as postmaster in Sheakleyville, and was a harness maker by occupation. He removed to Linesville, many years ago, following his trade there until he was appointed postmaster serving in that capacity continuously until his death. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Harry, of Pittsburg, and Burton, of Akron, Ohio, and two daughters, Mrs. J.A. Martin, of Linesville, Pa., and Mrs. A.K. Penfield, of Chicora, Butler county, Pa.
He was a good man and citizen, as well as a member of the M.E. church in which he was religiously brought up. In politics he was an ardent Republican. He was one of three broth-publican(sic).
Mr. Brown enlisted June 28th, 1863, and served in the 55th P.I.M. until his discharge. A loving husband, an indulgent father has passed away. He expressed a perfect willingness to go, which is far better, and his hope was bright for a better home where there will be no more pain.
