  	Sylvenus was drafted in August 1917 and was inducted into the U.S. Army at Meadville September 20, 1917. Served with 155 Dep Brig until May 14, 1918 then Central Officers Training School, Camp Lee, Virginia. He was appointed Corporal November 11, 1917, then Sergeant on December 15, 1917. He was then honorably discharged to accept a commission as Second Lieutenant August 25, 1918 and was stationed at Camp Gordon, Georgia. No foreign service. Honorably discharged again December 2, 1918.

  	from the records of the Thurman M. Houghton Funeral Home: S.H. (Dude) Dennis S.H. (Dude) Dennis, 876, of Linesville, formerly of Warren, Ohio, died at Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Tuesday, Jan. 14, 1971, after an illness of two months. Mr. Dennis lived at Warren from 1932-1960. He was born in Linesville Sept. 27, 1894, a son of John R. and Ella Baldwin Dennis. He was married to the former Josephine Northard who died in 1951. Mr. Dennis retired after 45 years of service with the Pennsylvania Railroad. He served as chief clerk in the railroad's E and A Division at Youngstown, Ohio. He was a 50-year member and past master of Pine Masonic Lodge 498, Linesville; a member of Knights Templar, Meadville, and Zem Zem Shrine, Erie, and was past worthy patron of Linesville Diamond Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. He served with the United States Army during World War I and was a charter member of Linesville American Legion Post. He was a member of Linesville United Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Patricia) Silliman of Enon, Ohio; a son, William Dennis of Warren, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Ralya and Mrs. Leslie Chapin, both of Sharon, and 11 grandchildren. Eight brothers and sisters died previously. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Thurman M. Houghton Funeral Home, Linesville, where Pine Masonic Lodge will hold memorial services at 8 p.m. Sunday and where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday with the Rev. Robert Gumbert, pastor of Linesville United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Linesville Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Linesville United Methodist Church.
