  Military Service	Not much is known about his military career in the US other than he served in the US Army during the Korean War. When he was about 23 years old he left the US and joined the Canadian Army - but then changed his mind and deserted before he even had a chance to serve, coming back to the US. Carl (my uncle) did not have an easy life, but he certainly had a colorful one.

  	cause of death: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease from the May 1, 2003 issue of the Meadville Tribune: Carl R. VanDusen, 68, of Meadville, died Wednesday, April 3, 2003, at Meadville Medical Ceter. Born in Meadville Dec. 4, 1934, he was a son of Paul E. and Mary A. Young VanDusen. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Survivors include a brother, William A. VanDusen of Linesville; and several children. Services will be private and burial will be in Linesville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Harold W. Coleman Jr. Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.
