Land Ownership He was an apparent man of means as indicated by his will below - leaving considerable sums (for the time) of money to various relatives, and even indicated a dollar amount to get tombstones for his parents. It is also sad to note that his land was sold at public sale a few years after his death - that notice appeared in the December 27, 1911 issue of the Courier.

  • Notes
    • Eli never married, although he is often confused for another Eli Brooks who is buried in Conneaut Center Cemetery. The confusion comes about because he is buried in the Linesville Cemetery next to his Aunt Rachel Whaley Brooks Wilson - who was also married to an Eli Brooks) - but Rachel is simply buried here beside her sister, Eunice Whaley Brooks. The Brooks and Whaley families inter married - but this Eli is not Rachel's Eli, he is her nephew and not her husband.

He is often confused with his Uncle Eli Brooks, and his cousin Eli Brooks Jr.
