  	Civil War veteran. He enlisted in the Civil War August 18, 1862 in Crawford County and was mustered into service September 2, 1862 at Erie, and served as a Private in Company H of the 145th Pennsylvania Infantry. There was a note found that he was captured at the second Battle of Ream's Station during the Siege of Petersburg, at Dinwiddie County, Virginia, on August 25, 1864, but released. No information was found on when, where or why released. He was mustered out with his unit May 31, 1865.
